Examples of biosensor use banner

On this set of pages we show some examples of sarissaprobes in action. These examples are illustrative of the ability of our biosensors to measure transmitter and metabolite release in real time in conjunction with other physiological measurements both in vitro and in vivo.

The ability to measure neurotransmitter release directly opens up new opportunities to understand their actions, functional significance and release mechanisms, and allows manipulations such as use of TTX, removal of extracellular calcium or sodium ions, which are not possible with indirect methods for inferring transmitter concentration as these often rely on monitoring synaptic transmission electrophysiologically.

We encourage all potential users to consult the papers listed in the Publications pages to get a fuller picture of what our biosensors can be used for and the types of information they provide.
